- How do I sign up for a virtual STOP THE BLEED® Skills session?
Once your instructor license application has been reviewed, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for a STOP THE BLEED® Skills session.
- What does a virtual STOP THE BLEED® Skills session consist of?
These sessions are typically about 15 minutes long and are conducted by qualified STOP THE BLEED® instructors. Applicants will demonstrate the application of a tourniquet and hemostatic dressing in addition to demonstrating their knowledge of STOP THE BLEED® principles.
- I would like to become a STOP THE BLEED® licensed instructor, but I have not taken a STOP THE BLEED® course. Can I still apply?
Yes. Individuals who apply and meet all of the requirements except for the STOP THE BLEED® course requirements can sign up for a virtual skills verification session. Once we receive and review your application, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for a session. Or, you can take an in person STOP THE BLEED® class after you’ve applied. Send an email to: community@stopthebleedcoalition.org after you have completed an in person class.
- Are healthcare professionals with expired licenses (medical doctor, nurse, etc.) eligible to apply?
Yes
- How do I get access to all of the resources the Coalition has developed?
The tools and resources we have developed are available at no cost to licensed STOP THE BLEED® Instructors and organizations that have been issued a STOP THE BLEED® Educational License. - How long does it take to get approved once an STOP THE BLEED® Instructor License application is filed?
Applications are typically reviewed within 2 to 3 business days. Applicants who meet all of the requirements will be notified by email and provided a link to set up their instructor account. Applicants who have not taken a STOP THE BLEED® class, but who are otherwise qualified, will be contacted to schedule a STOP THE BLEED® skills verification class. Once that is completed, they will receive an email notifying them of their approval. If you applied more than a week ago, please check your spam folder.
- I meet all of the eligibility requirements except I have not taken a U.S. Department of Defense approved STOP THE BLEED® class, what should I do?
Complete the application and mark “No” regarding the STOP THE BLEED® course. In order for your application to be approved, you will need to attend an in person class, or attend a virtual skills session offered by the Coalition. You will be provided instructions about how to sign up for a virtual STOP THE BLEED® skills session. If you take an in person STOP THE BLEED® course, notify us by sending an email to: community@stopthebleedcoalition.org
- How can I tell if I am eligible to apply?
The application form lists what qualifications are needed to be eligible. In the “My Profession” section, a drop down menu will appear when you select either of the “Healthcare Professional” or “Non-healthcare Professional” checkboxes
- I am already approved to teach STOP THE BLEED® classes by the American College of Surgeons, do I need to apply to become an instructor with the Stop the Bleed Coalition?
There is no requirement to apply to the NEW Instructor Licensing Program, you can continue with your current affiliation. However, the tools and resources available to you through the Coalition’s program are not available elsewhere. If you decide to apply, you can use our resources, the resources of the organization you are currently affiliated with, or both.
- How can I become a licensed STOP THE BLEED® Instructor?
The NEW STOP THE BLEED® Instructor Program is now available. You can apply to become a STOP THE BLEED® Instructor here . There’s no cost and you will have access to free tools and resources, including the new STOP THE BLEED® course developed by the Stop the Bleed Coalition and approved by the US Department of Defense.
